Think in HD: the rhythm

If you’re new to microdosing, this page is your anchor. We follow the classic 1 day on · 2 days off schedule (often called the Fadiman rhythm). The point isn’t intensity – it’s structureSub-perceptual means: you should feel normal enough to do a normal day – no impairment, no “buzz.”

What microdosing is (and isn’t)

Microdosing is the practice of taking a very small amount — small enough that your day stays normal. You shouldn’t feel intoxicated. You should still be able to work, speak, and function as usual.

Rule of thumb: if you feel “high”, it’s not a protocol dose. Reduce next time. This rhythm is recommended because it builds in off-days for integration and helps prevent habit-dosing.

NOA treats microdosing as a ritual + reflection system: the compound is one input, but the structure (off days, journaling, breathwork, consistency) is what makes it useful.

The 3-day loop

The loop is simple: ON (dose) → OFF (integrate) → OFF (baseline). This spacing is the point. It gives you contrast — and gives your system time to settle.

ON Dose day · signal OFF Integrate · afterglow OFF Contrast · baseline ↺ REPEAT

Most beginners make one mistake: dosing again too soon. The goal is not “more effect.” The goal is contrast + integration. The off days are where patterns become visible.

What happens on each day

ON · Dose day · signal

You might notice cleaner attention, less inner noise, or nothing dramatic. Keep life normal. Don’t stack major experiments. Pick one gentle anchor (walk, breathwork, simple intention).

OFF · Integration day · afterglow

Many people report residual clarity or steadiness. This is a good day for gentle execution: planning, writing, movement, calm follow-through. Track a few signals.

OFF · Integration day · baseline

Many people report residual clarity or steadiness. This is a good day for gentle execution: planning, writing, movement, calm follow-through. Track a few signals.

First-time checklist

Beginners usually don’t “do it wrong”; they just do too much too soon. Use this as your calm default.

Dose guidance (beginner-friendly)

NOA’s baseline reference is 1g, but sensitivity differs. If it’s your first time, start lower and adjust slowly. Your target is sub-perceptual: normal day, normal conversation, normal work.

  • Cut one dose from the blister. Chew slowly. Water if you prefer. Start earlier in the day.
  • Earlier is better for sleep.
  • For your first cycles, avoid stacking with lots of caffeine. Keep the day simple so you can actually observe.
  • If you’re on medication or have a condition, check with a professional you trust.

FAQ

Not recommended. The off days are part of the protocol: they reduce habit patterns and create contrast for integration.

Many beginners start with 2–3 weeks to learn their rhythm. A longer journey helps consistency compound. We recommend a journey with 2 kits for 5-6 weeks, and stopping for 2 weeks for integration. Give it a few cycles; patterns show up across weeks, not hours. You can pause anytime.

You should feel like you, just slightly clearer or steadier. If it feels intense, reduce next time.

Sleep, mood, focus, energy, and one sentence about the day. Patterns emerge when you keep it light and consistent.
